On, Monday, August 24, 2026, Keith Denvers Southern left us peacefully to be reunited with his beloved wife Nancy Southern (2003) and his daughter Susan Braiden (2022).
He will be greatly missed and loved by his fiancée and caregiver in life Millie Bechard and by his children John Southern (the late Julia), Michael Southern (Michelle), Brian Southern (late Beverly) and Millie’s children Linda (Maurice) Everaert and Todd (Mimi) Bechard as well as by his furry friend Sweet Corn. Cherished grandfather of Joshua (Anna), Nigel (Stefanie), Taylor, Sienna (Brandon), Josanne, Lindsay and great granddaughter Nina. He will be fondly thought of by Millie’s grandchildren and great grandchildren and his sister-in-law Joyce Barnes (the late Brent).
Keith was the last remaining child of the late Richard and Ada Southern and has now joined his siblings Lily, Richard and Kenneth. Many throughout the community will remember Keith from his many years teaching science at WDSS, from The Wallaceburg Adult Activity Centre or from the Royal Canadian Legion where he was a member and could be found playing a good game of Cribbage. Keith was also a devoted Christian who was heavily involved in first Knox Presbyterian and then Trinity United Church where he sang in the choir, played Wednesday cards and shuffleboard.
Family and friends are invited to pay honour to Keith at the Haycock-Cavanagh Funeral Home, 409 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg (519-627-3231) with visitation on Sunday, August 30 from 2-4 and 6-8pm and at his funeral service on Monday, August 31, 2026 at 11am. He will be laid to rest at Riverview Cemetery following the funeral. If you wish to make a donation in his memory, please consider Trinity United Church or the Chatham-Kent Hospice. Cherished stories and tributes may be left for the family at www.CavanaghFuneralHome.ca.
