Chatham-Kent Public Library unveils new Storybook Trail in Dresden

The Chatham-Kent Public Library is inviting the community to celebrate the new and improved Storybook Trail in Dresden’s Rotary Park, a project sponsored by the Chatham Kent Community Foundation and the South Kent Wind Community Fund.

The trail features picture books mounted on trail markers and begins in Rotary Park before winding along the south side of the Sydenham River. According to the library, the project supports early literacy, family engagement and physical activity by encouraging families to enjoy shared learning outdoors in local parks and along community trails. The permanent installation will change its featured story throughout the year to encourage repeat visits.

The library credited the founding sponsors of Dresden’s Storybook Trail — Chatham-Kent Trails, the Rotary Club of Dresden and the Dresden Youth Association — for helping bring the project to the community.

The public is invited to the grand reopening Wednesday, Sept. 23 at 10:30 a.m. in Rotary Park, located at 136 St. George Street South in Dresden, for stories, songs and a scavenger hunt.
