With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Donald David James “Don” Burnett. He passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 2, 2026 at the Chatham Kent Health Alliance in Chatham at the age of 78 years. He was born in Ottawa and was a son of the late Phillip and Violet (Mason) Burnett.
Beloved husband of Nancy (Bunda) Burnett.
Loving father of Toni (Jen Myers).
Cherished Poppy to Taylor (Levi) and Makayla.
Kind brother of Bonnie (Frank) Ostrander and brother-in-law of Tim (Mary) Bunda, Doug (Heather) Bunda and Jane (Brian) De Wolf.
He will always be remembered by many nieces and nephews and his Baby Dog “Bullet”.
Don worked for many years at Eaton Yale and then Oxford Automotive in Wallaceburg. He enjoyed boating and fishing. He always made time for family or could be found sitting on the back porch with a cold one and throwing a ball for Bullet.
He is resting at the Eric F. Nicholls Funeral Home Ltd. 639 Elgin St., Wallaceburg. Visitation will be on Saturday, September 5, 2026 from 10am-11:30am at the funeral home. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, September 5, 2026 at 12 noon from Holy Family Church.
Interment in Riverview Cemetery, Wallaceburg to follow.
