Chatham-Kent Health Alliance has announced the arrival of Dr. Jashan Uppal, a pediatrician joining the hospital’s Women & Children’s department.
Dr. Uppal completed her high school and undergraduate studies in Toronto before relocating to India, where she earned her Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery degree from Kasturba Medical College in 2021. She went on to complete a pediatrics residency from 2023 to 2026 at the Children’s Hospital of Michigan in Detroit.
“I’m incredibly excited to join CKHA because it gives me the opportunity to return to Canada and serve the Chatham-Kent community while practicing the kind of pediatrics I value most — compassionate, family-centred care,” Dr. Uppal said. “My training at the Children’s Hospital of Michigan has given me broad experience caring for children with a wide range of medical needs, from common childhood concerns to more complex conditions, and I look forward to bringing that experience to my practice at CKHA. What I value most about pediatrics is the opportunity to build meaningful, long-term relationships with children and their families, and I hope to provide evidence-based care while supporting my patients through every stage of their growth and development.”
CKHA Chief of Staff Dr. Zeke Milkovic said Dr. Uppal’s expertise will strengthen the hospital’s care for patients.
“We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Uppal to our team,” Dr. Milkovic said. “Her expertise, dedication to patient-centered care, and commitment to clinical excellence will be a tremendous asset to our hospital and the Chatham-Kent community. We look forward to the contributions she will make as we continue to strengthen the care we provide for our patients.”
With Dr. Uppal’s arrival, Chatham-Kent’s pediatric team now has six experienced specialists, offering specialized outpatient services including minor procedures such as newborn circumcisions and frenectomies. Health care providers can send patient referrals to the pediatric team by fax at 519-358-1586.
