With heavy hearts we announce that Freddie Sahguj, a member of Walpole Island First Nation passed away on Sunday, September 6, 2026 at the age of 82. He will be remembered as a dear father to Rhonda (Steve), Warren, Ernie (Candace), Clifford (Natalie), Tanya, Travis (Tiffany), Shayna and the late Christopher as well as his adopted children Robyn (Bryan), Clint, Christina (Mike) and the late Fred (Naomi) and Bear. Cherished grandfather of many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Freddie is the son of the late Phyllis Fisher and Clifford Sahguj and will be greatly missed and remembered by his sister, his many nieces and nephews as well as his large extended family.
Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation at his daughters’ home at 451 Union Hall Rd., Walpole Island from 2pm on Thursday, September 10th until the time of his funeral service at Walpole Island Sports Complex on Friday, September 11, at 11am. Arrangements under the care of the Haycock-Cavanagh Funeral Home, 409 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg (519-627-3231). Burial at highbanks cemetery will follow.
