Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Members of the Chatham-Kent Police Service Intelligence Unit have laid multiple drug trafficking charges following the execution of a search warrant at a residence in Chatham.
Investigators executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant at a residence on Wellington Street East on September 10, 2026 as part of an ongoing drug trafficking investigation. The warrant was executed with the assistance of the Chatham-Kent Police Service Emergency Response Team.
During the search, officers seized approximately 72 grams of cocaine, 36 grams of methamphetamine and 21 grams of fentanyl, along with digital scales, drug packaging materials, cellphones and a significant quantity of Canadian currency. The estimated street value of the seized substances is approximately $13,500.
A 43-year-old man and a 42-year-old woman, both of Chatham, were arrested and charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking and possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking.
The man was held in custody pending a bail hearing. The woman was released with conditions and is scheduled to appear in court at a future date.
Police say they remain committed to addressing drug trafficking in the community and are encouraging residents to report suspicious activity.
