Sleeping man arrested after break-in at Tilbury building

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A man was arrested after being found asleep inside a building on Mill Street West in Tilbury following a break-in.

Members of the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to the scene on Saturday, Sept. 12, at approximately 11:36 p.m. Officers located a smashed window panel on the southeast side of the building, and while clearing the property, found a man asleep inside a room. Police confirmed the man was not authorized to be on the property.

The 30-year-old Chatham man, who has no fixed address, was arrested and charged with breaking and entering with intent to commit an indictable offence.

He was transported to Chatham-Kent Police headquarters and released on an undertaking, with a future court date set for Dec. 7, 2026.
