OPP officials allge: The Lambton County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police is reminding members of the public to respect election signs as candidates campaign ahead of the Oct. 26 municipal elections across Ontario.
Police say the unauthorized removal of election signs, or the intentional damaging of or tampering with election signs, may result in charges under the Criminal Code of Canada.
The reminder follows recent complaints received by Lambton County OPP regarding election signs being removed without authorization across the county.
Anyone with information regarding the theft or damage of election signs is asked to contact Lambton County OPP. Those wishing to remain anonymous can contact Crime Stoppers, where they may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $2,000.
