The Sombra Museum and Cultural Centre will host a lecture on the history of Polish-Canadians in Lambton County on Oct. 20 at 7 p.m.
The talk, titled “Polish-Canadians in Lambton County: How and Why We Got Here,” will be presented by Krystyna Stalmach.
Stalmach’s lecture aims to bring awareness to the heroic actions of Polish soldiers during the Second World War. Her talk will also discuss the role Canada played as a place of refuge for Poles seeking freedom, noting that Polish immigrants played and continue to play important roles in Canada’s social, cultural and economic life.
Stalmach will also share personal stories of Polish-Canadians from the Sarnia area and showcase a few paintings from the “Painted History of Poland” exhibition.
