Rosemary Aarssen

With a heavy heart we announce the passing of Rosemary Evelyn Aarssen (Louzon) on Saturday, October 31, 2026 at the age of 75. We feel comforted knowing that she was greeted at the gates of Heaven with a glass of wine by her beloved husband Wayne Aarssen (2021). She was a loving and devoted mother to Christine (Steve) Joyce, Tom (Megan) Van De Velde, and Renée (Rick) Lalonde and Grandma extraordinaire to Landon, Bennette, Cullen, Pierce, Clara, Briar, Elyse, and Winnie. Her grandchildren were the light of her life and her calendar was filled with all of their special events.

Rosemary cherished her siblings, Eugene (Mary) Louzon, Richard (Paullette) Louzon, Lynn (Dan) McNally, and the late Brenda Demars. She valued her role as step-mother to John (Claudia) Aarssen and Shannon Davidson, as well as step-grandmother to Hailey, Spencer, Erica, and Owen. She will be fondly remembered as a caring sister-in-law to Linda (Barry) McFadden, Patricia (the late Lloyd) Baker, Tim Aarssen, Greg Aarssen, and Tom Aarssen. She will be forever missed by her dear friend and cousin Linda (the late Mike) Aarssen, her extended family, and many friends from throughout her life.

Rosemary spent the beginning of her adult life as a housewife on the farm, keeping things running and raising her family. She later worked at Walmart in Chatham for over 20 years, making lasting friendships. She loved to spend time gardening and was especially known as a great seamstress- always quick to hem, mend and even make special garments for her family. She was also an excellent cook who took pride in her ability to play host to large groups of family- her specialties being sweet and sour meatballs, pineapple dip and party potatoes. During their time together, Rosemary and Wayne loved to fish on their boat “The Schooner”, even if Rosemary was busy reading her books while Wayne got them on the bite. We feel comforted knowing they’re reeling in the perch together forever.

Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation at the Haycock-Cavanagh Funeral Home, 409 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg from 3 pm until 6 pm on Wednesday, November 4, 2026. The Funeral Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at Holy Family Church at 11 am on Thursday, November 5, 2026. A private family burial will take place at a later date. If desired, donations to Chatham-Kent Hospice may be left at the funeral home (519-627-3231). Cherished stories and tributes may be shared with the family at www.CavanaghFuneralHome.ca.
