A crowdfunding campaign has been launched for a Wallaceburg family, after a tragic snowmobile crash on the Sydenham River.
Wallaceburg’s Daniel Dionne, 34, was seriously injured after a crash between an ATV and a snowmobile on Sunday, December 31. The other driver in the incident, a 32-year-old Brantford man, died as a result of the crash.
Dionne is currently at a Windsor hospital and is expected to recover from his injuries.
Melissa Charlebois, a family friend, decided to start a fundraiser on GoFundMe to help out the Dionne’s.
“He has a very long road of recovery in front of him,” she wrote on the GoFundMe campaign page.
“He also lost a very close friend. I couldn’t even begin to imagine the mental and physical pain he is feeling right now.”
Charlebois says Dionne’s wife Kathleen has been travelling back-and-forth to London, Ontario as their niece has been battling health issues. The couple also have six children.
“This family has been on a roller coaster of emotions,” she wrote.
Since the campaign was launched online on January 1, a total of $1,235 of their $5,000 goal has been raised.
