An investigation has been launched in Wallaceburg after a dog attack involving a child.
Staff Sergeant Rob Renders of the Chatham-Kent Police Service confirmed with the Sydenham Current that a child was attacked, but few details could be released at this point.
“We are currently conducting an investigation,” Renders said.
Jason Hamm, manager of animal control services for Wards 2, 4, 5 and 6 in Chatham-Kent, also confirmed the attack.
“We can confirm there was a dog attack today, February 5, 2018 at Jaycee Park in Wallaceburg involving a young male party,” Hamm said in a written statement.
“The investigation is currently ongoing and we believe there is no public safety concern at this time.”
Sources say the boy has been brought to a hospital in London, but this has not been confirmed.
We will provide more details when they become available.
