Wallaceburg man charged after ‘narrowly’ missing pedestrian

A Wallaceburg man faces impaired and dangerous driving charged after allegedly just missing a pedestrian on Monday.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials say late yesterday afternoon, police received information about a fail to remain motor vehicle collision in the Wallaceburg area.

Police allege that the driver sideswiped a vehicle and narrowly missed a pedestrian.

A description of the vehicle and driver were provided to police.

Officers located the vehicle and a traffic stop was initiated.

Police allege that the officer believed the man was driving while under the influence of alcohol and he was arrested.

He was transported to police headquarters for breath tests.

The 52-year-old Wallaceburg man has been charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit and dangerous driving.

He was released pending a future court date of May 9, 2018.
