Man charged with obstruct police and drug possession

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, an officer on general patrol observed a man riding a bicycle in the area of Princess Street and Colborne Street in Chatham with improper lighting and equipment.

The officer stopped the man who then provided two different names.

As the man was placed under arrest for obstruct police, he pulled away from the officer and a struggle ensued.

The man was taken into custody and through investigation his true identity was learned which revealed that he was currently wanted for breaching his Probation Order and failing to attend court.

Upon being searched incident to arrest, the man was found to be in possession of methamphetamine.

The 43-year-old Chatham man has been charged with obstruct police, resist arrest and drug possession.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Executed warrants

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, police located a man on King Street in Chatham who was wanted for failing to comply with his release conditions.

The 36-year-old Chatham man was arrested and transported to the Courthouse pending a bail hearing.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, police arrested a woman who was wanted for failing to attend court on two separate occasions.

The 64-year-old Harwich Township woman was transported to the Courthouse pending a bail hearing.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, police arrested a man wanted for breaching his Probation Order.

The 45-year-old Chatham man was transported to the Courthouse pending a bail hearing.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, officers at the Courthouse arrested a man wanted for failing to comply with his release conditions.

The 48-year-old Chatham man was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, police arrested a woman who was wanted for failing to sign in.

A 29-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with failing to comply with her release conditions.

She was released pending a future court date of January 28, 2020.

Traffic enforcement

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday, members of the Traffic Unit conducted speed enforcement on Bloomfield Road.

A total of 27 transport trucks were observed travelling through the area, with no infractions recorded.

Motor vehicle collisions

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Shortly after 6:30 p.m. last night, police responded to a three vehicle collision on Lacroix Street near Park Avenue in Chatham.

No one was injured.

Total damage was estimated at $12,000.

A 90-year-old Chatham man was charged with careless driving.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Around 7 p.m. last night, emergency personnel responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Queens Line between Merlin Road and Drake Road.

The driver, a 23-year-old Chatham man, was transported to hospital as a precaution.

He was charged with careless driving.

Total damage was estimated at $5,000.
