Chatham-Kent Public Utilities Commission officials say the exterior tarp of the Joseph Shaw Wallaceburg Elevated Storage Tank was completed last week.

PUC officials say the contractor will now commence removing the exterior coating.
“A third party steel inspection of the storage cell confirmed that the steel is in very good condition and requires no further repairs,” PUC officials added, on social media.
Earlier this month, PUC officials said third party antennas on the tank roof were moved to their temporary locations on the scaffolding and the removal, through sand blasting, of the existing interior coating had started.
BGL Contracting was selected and awarded the rehabilitation project in January 2022, PUC officials say.
The tower was placed out of service in March 2022 and expected to be returned back into service in September 2022.
Tim Sunderland, the general manager of the PUC, said Wallaceburg is the fifth water tower to be rehabilitated since the first tower, which was the Chatham tower was rehabilitated in 2014.
Towers completed since 2014 have been Blenheim, Dresden and Pain Court.
