OPP officials allege: On April 10, 2023, at 6:18 p.m., members of the Oneida Nation Police Service and the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), were dispatched to River Road, Oneida Nation of the Thames First Nation for the report of found human remains.
A member of the public observed the human remains along the bank of the Thames River, while fishing.
The scene has been secured as members of the Oneida Nation Police Service and the Middlesex County OPP Crime Unit work in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario and Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.
A post-mortem examination will be conducted to attempt to identify the remains and determine a cause of death.
The investigation is in the early stages and more information will be released when it becomes available.
