Officials have released an update on the ongoing “cybersecurity incident” impacting hospital in the region, including in Chatham-Kent.
“Bluewater Health, Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Erie Shores HealthCare, Hôtel-Dieu Grace Healthcare and Windsor Regional Hospital, along with our shared service provider TransForm Shared Service Organization, continue to work around the clock to restore systems following a recent cybersecurity incident,” the shared statement from Friday, October 27, 2023 read.
“Leading third-party cybersecurity experts have been engaged and we continue to investigate. We expect to have updates related to the restoration of our systems in the upcoming week.”
Hospital officials added: “The hospitals will continue to do their best to contact patients directly in advance if they have a scheduled appointment with one of our hospitals that needs to be rescheduled.”
If people are not needing emergency care, hospital officials are asking people to attend their primary care provider or local clinic.
“We understand the impact this incident is having on members of our community, including patients and our employees and professional staff, and deeply apologize for the inconvenience this has caused,” the joint statement read.
“We want to thank everyone for their patience during this time. Due to the fact we have notified and engaged police as part of a criminal investigation we will not be providing further comment in response to this statement.”
The hospitals announced earlier this week a shared service provider used by all them was experiencing a cyberattack. More details, here.
We’ll provide more information when it becomes available.
