A fire at Accurcast in Wallaceburg has caused $50,000 damage.
“At 8:04pm Station #3 – Wallaceburg was dispatched to 333 Arnold Street for reports of a fire in the roof of the industrial building,” fire officials stated in a media release.
“When Pumper 3 arrived, firefighters could see heavy black smoke coming from the roof top. The crew made entry to the factory and found flames in the ceiling around a chimney. They applied water from the interior and Incident Command instructed Ladder 2 to setup for roof operations.”
Firefighters remained on scene for several hours working on hotspots and opening sections of the roof to gain access, fire officials say.
“Crews on scene included, Pumper 3, Station 3 Volunteers, Ladder 2, Command 1, Support 1 and CK2 CK Police, CK EMS, Entegrus and Enbridge were also on scene,” fire officials added.
“Production in the facility was shutdown and facility maintenance is on scene assessing conditions. Currently damages include the roof and roof membrane surrounding the chimney as well as water inside the facility.”
No injuries were reported and damages are estimated at $50,000.
