Suspicious activity investigation in Wallaceburg leads to charges

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On September 9, 2024, at 1:31 a.m., police responded to Warwick Drive in Wallaceburg to investigate suspicious activity.

It was reported a man dressed in dark clothing was observed walking around the property with a flashlight.

The man left in a vehicle at a high rate of speed prior to police arrival.

A description of the vehicle was provided which aided officers in locating the vehicle on Base Line, near Old Glass Road in Wallaceburg.

Officers conducted a traffic stop and discovered the man was in violation of a curfew condition.

During a search incident to arrest, the man was found in possession of a BB gun and a stolen identification.

The man was also prohibited from being in possession of weapons.

The 49-year-old Chatham man was transported to police headquarters, where he was held pending a bail hearing.

The man was charged with failing to comply with an undertaking, failing to comply with a recognizance and possession of stolen property.
