Did you know that a professional thief can steal your vehicle in just 30 seconds, even without the key?
To help protect your property and prevent auto theft, the Chatham-Kent Police Service encourages everyone to stay vigilant and follow these important tips:
– Lock your vehicle doors, even if you’re just stepping away for a moment.
– Whenever possible, park your vehicle in a garage or a well-lit area.
– Store key fobs in a secure location, away from your vehicle, or use a Faraday (signal blocking) bag or box.
– Use a steering wheel locking device and/or wheel club immobilizer to deter thieves.
– Consider investing in outdoor security cameras for your home.
– An aftermarket GPS tracker can significantly assist in recovering stolen vehicles.
– Explore anti-theft devices such as ignition or fuel immobilizing switches and aftermarket vehicle alarm systems.
