Gary Richmond

With deep love and sadness, we announce the passing of Gary Carson Richmond, son of Carson and Eleanor, who left this world with the same quiet grace and kindness that defined his life.

From his early days as a pharmacist to running his own factory, Gary approached everything he did with integrity, patience, and a steady calm. He was often the voice of reason; helping others find clarity, remain grounded, and feel seen. His wisdom, freely shared, was a gift to everyone who knew him.

For 54 years, he was the beloved husband of Carol (Brown) Richmond. Their story began when they were just 14 and 15 years old, a love that grew and endured through decades of joy, heartache, and deep laughter.

He was the proud and loving father of Josh (Tanny) Richmond and Erica Richmond, and the deeply devoted grandfather of Rain Hooper, Ash Hooper, Ella Richmond, and Amelia Richmond.

Tea parties, science experiments, woodworking projects, and quiet encouragement were just a few of the ways he showed up for his grandchildren again and again.

Gary is survived by his siblings Ron (Diana) Richmond, Cheryl (Ron) Riedstra, and Donna (Ross) Armstrong. He was predeceased by his brother Larry (August 1951), his sister Carol Eves (May 2025), and his brother-in-law Tom Eves (April 2025). He will also be dearly missed by his brothers-in-law Rick (Suzanne) Brown, and Rob Brown (with partner Renee Wills), along with many nieces and nephews.

Though a country boy at heart, he made a full and happy life in Grimsby thanks to a community of wonderful neighbours and a riding lawn mower. More than anything, he was a man of character, who raised his children to live by their values and welcomed every request for help or advice with an open heart.

His legacy is one of kindness, constancy, and love. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation https://www.heartandstroke.ca/ would be appreciated.
