Disturbance at a Chatham business leads uttering threats and assault charges

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On July 1, 2025, at approximately 12:30 p.m., the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a disturbance at a retail store on King St W, Chatham.

Upon arrival, officers found the complainant visibly upset. She reported that she had been spat on by the accused.

Through initial statements and corroborated audio evidence, it was established that the accused spat at the complainant after being refused service due to insufficient funds.

Additionally, during the altercation, the accused allegedly threatened the complainant, stating. This threat was confirmed by a witness present at the scene.

The 40-year-old Chatham-Kent woman was located and arrested.

She was transported to Chatham Kent Police Service Headquarters, where she is currently being held for a bail hearing.

She has been charged with assault and uttering threats.
