Chatham-Kent Mayor Darrin Canniff says a new mural and the rededication of the cenotaph in downtown Chatham are an important way to honour local history and those who served.
Canniff shared the update on social media following last week’s ceremony, saying he was proud to support the project, which was led by the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 642.
“I was proud to support this important initiative that honours the sacrifices of those who served and preserves a vital part of our shared history,” Canniff said. “A heartfelt thank you to the Chatham Legion Branch 642 for their dedication, leadership, and commitment in making this project possible.”
The mayor said moments like the ceremony remind residents how deeply the past shapes the community today.
