OPP investigating theft of two tractor trailers

OPP officials allege: Essex County Ontario Provincial Police are investigating the theft of two transport trucks in Tecumseh.

Police say the first theft occurred on Sept. 27 at about 8:26 p.m. from the 1900 block of Ellis Sideroad. The truck was hauling a 53-foot enclosed trailer loaded with cases of salsa and dip valued at about $35,000. The truck was later returned damaged, but the trailer was missing.

A second truck was stolen the same evening at about 9:38 p.m. from the 2800 block of North Talbot Road. Investigators say it was later seen on County Road 34 in Essex towing what they believe was the stolen trailer from Ellis Sideroad.

The North Talbot Road truck was recovered on Sept. 29 in Ajax. The trailer and its cargo remain missing.

Police say a Jeep Rubicon was seen in the area and may be connected to the thefts.
