Tart & Soul butter tart festival comes to Windsor on Sunday

The Tart & Soul Butter Tart Festival will take place Sunday, Oct. 5, at WindsorEats Food Hall, 400 Erie St. East. The festival runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., rain or shine, with free admission.

Following its inaugural event in June in Chatham, which attracted more than 3,000 visitors from Windsor to the Greater Toronto Area, the festival is bringing its celebration of Canada’s beloved dessert to Windsor.

Attendees will be able to sample a variety of butter tarts made by bakers from across the GTA and Southwestern Ontario, ranging from traditional recipes to unique flavour twists. The event also features a People’s Choice Award, allowing visitors to vote for their favourite tart using QR codes provided at the festival.

“We created Tart & Soul to celebrate both the butter tart and the sense of community that builds around food,” said Doug Robbins, event organizer. “After seeing the excitement in Chatham, we knew Windsor was the perfect place to keep the momentum going.”

Organizers say the festival will include live music and encourage visitors to arrive early, as large crowds are expected and popular tarts may sell quickly. Guests are advised to bring cash or card and come ready to support local bakers.

Updates and vendor highlights are available on social media at @TartAndSoulFestival and @WindsorEats, with attendees encouraged to share their experiences using #TartAndSoul2025.
