Wallaceburg’s annual Halloween spectacle, A Nightmare on Nelson Street, returns Friday, October 31, for its fourth year of frightful fun.
“Everyone in neighborhood has been working hard trying to make this year the best one yet,” said Josh Thompson, one of the event’s founders. “It’s a lot of work, but the kids love it. That we’re aware of, there isn’t anything else like this in Chatham-Kent.”
Thompson said neighbours have been busy since late August building a twisted maze that spans three properties.
The journey begins at 304 Nelson Street in a witch’s lair, followed by a haunted forest at 310 Nelson that leads to carnival-themed chaos and a creepy cemetery.
At 314 Nelson Street, visitors will pass through another cemetery before entering an enclosed spider terrarium and a haunted corn maze, finishing beside a wall of pumpkins to collect their treats.
“Be prepared for more thrills and more chills this year,” said Thompson.
Residents further down the street have also joined in the spirit, decorating their homes and waiting to welcome trick-or-treaters.
Here is a sneak-peek of the set-up:
