Break-in suspect arrested on multiple warrants

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 46-year-old Chatham man has been arrested in connection with a break and enter at a Sandy Street business last month.

Police responded to the property on Nov. 14 at 1:03 a.m. after alarms and surveillance systems were triggered. Investigators learned a man had climbed over a barbed-wire fence, searched the secured compound and damaged the fence as he fled.

Video footage led police to identify a suspect who was already bound by a release order requiring him to remain at his residence overnight. Officers issued a warrant for charges including failing to comply with a release order and break and enter with intent to commit an indictable offence.

On Dec. 5 at 3:59 p.m., officers found the man and arrested him on an endorsed warrant. He was taken to police headquarters and held for bail.
