The Canadian Belgian Dutch Club (CBD Club), located at 1342 Dufferin Avenue in Wallaceburg, continues its long-standing tradition of giving back to the community. As a not-for-profit organization, the club directs proceeds from its weekly events, including the popular Friday meat draw, toward supporting local groups, programs and initiatives.
Throughout the past year, the CBD Club has contributed to a wide range of community organizations and events. Beneficiaries include the Kinsmen Club Pumpkinfest, Autism Awareness initiatives, Photos with Santa, the Wallaceburg Adult Activity Centre, and the Chatham-Kent Public Library.
The club also supported several sports teams and youth programs, such as the Women’s Box Lacrosse Team, Wallaceburg Red Devils Jr. B Lacrosse, the Wallaceburg Shoot Out 4-on-4 Basketball Tournament, and Team Ontario Lacrosse. Educational support was provided through contributions to the Wallaceburg District Secondary School Commencement Awards.
Additional community events and charitable causes receiving assistance included the Knights of Pythias Santa Claus Parade, Saint Vincent de Paul, the Make-A-Wish Foundation’s Hospital Activity Book for Children, the Sombra Optimist Club, the Knights of Pythias Golf Tournament, the Matt Cousins Memorial Golf Tournament, E.L.F. Wallaceburg, the Knights of Pythias Easter Egg Hunt, the Wallaceburg Sports Hall of Fame, the Make-A-Wish Mystic Hwy Benefit Show, Chatham-Kent Hospice, and Community Living Wallaceburg.
The CBD Club says its commitment to supporting local organizations remains at the heart of its mission, and it looks forward to continuing that work in the year ahead.
