Man arrested after attempted garage break-in in Morpeth

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 34-year-old Chatham-Kent man is facing charges after an attempted break and enter in Morpeth.

Chatham-Kent police were called to a residence on Talbot Trail on Jan. 16, 2026, at about 2:53 p.m. for a reported break and enter. Police determined the man had entered a detached garage, opened the garage door and moved a snowmobile outside in an attempt to steal it.

Officers attended the scene and located the man inside the garage. He was arrested and charged with break and enter to commit an indictable offence and possession of break-in instruments. He was taken to police headquarters, remanded until Jan. 19, 2026, and transported to the South West Detention Centre.
