Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A Windsor man is facing multiple charges after a package theft in Chatham led to a brief foot pursuit and arrest Thursday morning.
Chatham-Kent police say officers responded at about 9:54 a.m. on March 12, 2026, to a report of a package theft on Lacroix Street.
Investigators say two men attended a residential porch on Lacroix Street, removed a delivered package and left the area. The suspects were later seen opening the package in a nearby alleyway.
Officers soon located one of the suspects following a brief foot pursuit on Lorne Avenue. Police say the man was found in possession of stolen property.
A 35-year-old Windsor man has been charged with theft under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
Further investigation determined the accused was also in breach of house arrest conditions. He has been additionally charged with failure to comply with a release order.
The accused was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service headquarters and remains in custody pending a bail hearing.
Police say a second suspect, identified as a 33-year-old man from Chatham-Kent, remains outstanding.
