More than 150 participants took part in the second annual Light Up the Night for Noelle – Chatham-Kent Edition, raising $11,329 in support of Noelle’s Gift to Children.
The fundraising event, held April 24, continues to expand its presence across Chatham-Kent as the organization works to support more children and families throughout the region.
Schools within the Lambton Kent District School Board played a major role in the event’s success. Indian Creek Road Public School led all fundraising teams with $3,630.27, while student Quinn Sleightholm raised $2,318.50 individually.
Teams from Tecumseh Public School, Blenheim District High School, Wallaceburg District Secondary School, Wallaceburg District Elementary School, McNaughton Ave Public School and Winston Churchill Public School also contributed to the fundraiser.
Volunteers from John McGregor Secondary School helped organize and run the event under the guidance of educator Danielle Barr. Organizers said the students assisted with coordinating activities, welcoming participants and ensuring the evening ran smoothly.
Funds raised through the event will help provide clothing, nutrition supports, hygiene products and emergency assistance for children across Chatham-Kent.
“The generosity and enthusiasm of the community really continues to brighten the lives of children across the region and fuel the ongoing growth of Noelle’s Gift in Chatham-Kent,” said race organizer and LKDSB staffer Bryan Cowden.
Community members, businesses and organizations interested in supporting the charity through volunteering, sponsorships, fundraising or hosting events are encouraged to learn more through Noelle’s Gift to Children.
