Wallaceburg Shootout tournament to raise funds for Victim Services

A charity basketball tournament planned for Wallaceburg later this year will raise money for Chatham-Kent Victim Services.

The Wallaceburg Shootout 4-on-4 Charity Basketball Tournament is scheduled to take place at the W.D.D. gym from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Organizer Nick Persyn said the annual event supports local families in need and community support services. This year’s fundraiser will benefit Chatham-Kent Victim Services, a non-profit organization that assists victims of crime and tragedy.

“Our family has seen first hand the importance of this service and appreciate the support, services and compassion they offer,” Persyn said.

The event will include a day of basketball along with a three-point contest held at halftime.

Players interested in participating can register for $50 per player, with a cash prize awarded to the first-place team.

Proceeds from registration fees, monetary donations, pizza-by-the-slice lunches donated by Bill’s International and a raffle table will go toward the charity.

“All are welcome to join us for a fun day of basketball,” Persyn said.
