The Municipality of Chatham-Kent is advising residents of a planned Hydro One power outage scheduled for Friday, July 10, 2026, to allow Hydro One crews to complete essential maintenance work on the local electrical system.
The planned outage will take place from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and is expected to affect approximately 613 Hydro One customers.
The work is part of Hydro One’s ongoing efforts to maintain and upgrade the local electricity grid, helping ensure the safe and reliable delivery of power while reducing the risk of longer, unplanned outages in the future.
Hydro One has notified affected customers through its automated phone system. Residents can also find additional information by visiting Hydro One’s outage map and selecting “Future Planned Outages” or by calling 1-888-664-9376.
Residents affected by the planned outage are encouraged to prepare in advance by ensuring appliances, including stoves, are turned off, and by fully charging cellphones and other essential electronic devices. Officials also advise using a battery-powered alarm clock or cellphone alarm if needed, keeping refrigerator and freezer doors closed as much as possible to preserve food, and using a cooler with ice for frequently needed items if necessary. If water service could be affected, residents are encouraged to fill containers with water for drinking and cooking before the outage begins. Those using a generator are reminded to operate it outdoors in a dry, well-ventilated area away from windows, doors and vents, and never to operate it indoors.
The Municipality of Chatham-Kent thanks residents for their patience and understanding while Hydro One completes this important infrastructure work.
