With her loving family by her side, Karen Elizabeth Armitage passed away peacefully on July 18, 2026, at St. Joseph’s Hospice in Sarnia, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 67 years young.
Beloved wife and best friend of Brian Armitage, with whom she shared 31 wonderful years of love, laughter, and unwavering support. Cherished mother of Nicole (Mike), Mark (Chantelle), Kelly (Daryle), Matthew, Mackenzie (Shawn), and Mitchell (Jess). Proud and devoted grandmother of Carter (Ally), Ash, Cayden, Maya, Jessica, Taylor, Miliana, Jack, Hunter and Red, and overjoyed to welcome her great-grandson, Joey, into the family, a moment she cherished deeply. Loving daughter of George and Marguerite. Dear sister of Greg (Pat), Pat (Brenda), Mel, Denise, Brenda (Pete), and Carmen (Tom), and predeceased by her beloved sister, Darlene and a brother Mark. Karen will also be fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, extended family, and countless friends, especially her dear friends Carolyn, Cindy, Cathie, and Bonnie. She will also be missed by her faithful companion Zuri.
Karen spent her life putting others before herself. Her greatest joy was her family, and she found happiness in the moments spent together, whether sharing stories around the table, celebrating life’s milestones, or simply making those around her laugh. Her quick wit, infectious smile, and ability to brighten any room will be remembered by everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Karen was the proud co-founder of the Breast Buddies Dragon Boat Team, where she formed lifelong friendships while inspiring strength, courage, and hope in others. She believed in lifting people up, and her kindness, compassion, and generosity touched countless lives throughout her community and beyond.
Although cancer challenged her with incredible strength, it never defined who she was. Karen faced each day with determination, grace, and an unwavering love for those around her. Even in her final days, her thoughts remained with her family, making sure they knew how deeply they were loved.
She will be deeply missed by her family, many dear friends, and all whose lives were made better simply by knowing her. While our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing she is now at peace and forever free from pain.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Kim, the compassionate staff at St. Joseph’s Hospice, and all of the healthcare professionals who cared for Karen throughout her journey. Your kindness, dignity, and exceptional care brought comfort not only to Karen but to our entire family, and for that we will be forever grateful.
Family and friends are invited to Eric F. Nicholls Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, from 2:00–4:00 p.m. and 7:00–9:00 p.m. for visitation. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Church.
