Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 37-year-old Chatham man is facing charges after police responded to a break-in in progress on Joseph Street on Wednesday.
Chatham-Kent police say officers were called to the residence at approximately 12:39 p.m. on Aug. 6 and found the man inside the home. Investigators determined he had forced open a rear door, damaging the door frame, before entering without permission.
He was arrested and charged with break and enter to commit mischief. Police say a further check revealed the man was also wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to comply with probation.
He was taken to the South West Detention Centre, where he is being held in custody. He is scheduled to make his next court appearance by video on Aug. 14.
