Lord Selkirk Bridge in Wallaceburg closed to vehicles due to mechanical issue

The Municipality of Chatham-Kent is advising residents that the Lord Selkirk Bridge in Wallaceburg is closed to vehicular traffic for public safety until further notice due to a mechanical issue.

The bridge remains open to pedestrians.

The bridge is currently not operable for marine traffic requiring the bridge to open.

Municipal staff are working to address the mechanical issue.

At this time, a timeline for reopening the bridge has not been determined.

Further information will be provided as it becomes available.

Motorists are asked to follow the posted detour route using Base Line Road, Old Glass Road, Mason Street and Arnold Street and to allow additional travel time when moving through the area.

The Municipality of Chatham-Kent appreciates the patience and understanding of residents, businesses and motorists as work continues toward reopening the bridge as soon as possible.
