Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A Thamesville man has been arrested after a stolen vehicle was located in Wallaceburg Thursday morning.
Members of the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to the area of Murray Street at approximately 10:25 a.m. on September 10, 2026 after receiving an Automated Licence Plate Recognition notification regarding a possible stolen vehicle.
Officers located the vehicle and determined it had been reported stolen from the Durham Region. Further investigation revealed the licence plates attached to the vehicle had also been reported stolen locally.
A 41-year-old man from Thamesville was arrested and charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
He was brought to Chatham-Kent Police headquarters and released on an undertaking with a future court date of December 8, 2026.
