Canadian Sustainable Energies Ltd. has issued a clarification regarding its proposed integrated manufacturing facility in Chatham-Kent, saying the project will not include a data centre.
The company said there has been considerable misunderstanding and speculation that the proposed project includes the creation of a data centre, and wanted to be clear that a data centre is not part of the plan for its investment in Chatham-Kent.
While some of the products the company expects to manufacture at the facility may be used to support and power data centres elsewhere, Canadian Energies said the Chatham-Kent facility itself will not be a data centre. It is expected to be a major Battery Energy Storage System manufacturing facility and will also house the production of other clean energy components, including solar modules.
The company said it recognizes the strong interest in the project and understands residents have questions about what is being proposed. Canadian Energies said it wants to ensure the community has accurate information about the venture and plans to hold a media event in Chatham-Kent in the coming weeks to share more information.
