Fresh off the campaign trail Ontario’s MPPs are being called back to Queen’s Park. Lambton Kent-Middlesex MPP Monte McNaughton looks forward to resuming his duties as the MPP for the sprawling southwestern Ontario riding and is excited to be going back to work.

“It is exciting to be re-elected as the MPP for Lambton-Kent-Middlesex,” said McNaughton. “As a lifelong resident of this riding being elected and now re-elected to represent my community and my neighbours at Queen’s Park is a great honour.”

July 2 will be a busy day for new and returning members as all will need to be sworn in. Further an election for the Speaker of the House will be held and the Official Opposition will also be choosing an interim leader.

“There are so many issues facing Ontario residents and Ontario families right now,” said McNaughton. “I’m happy to be going back to stand up for the people of our community who spoke loud and clear about the need for a government that lives within its means, affordable energy and good jobs.”

On July 3 the Lieutenant Governor will deliver the throne speech. MPPs will then review the very budget that triggered this spring’s provincial election. Several days of throne speech and budget debate are then expected. McNaughton looks forward to hearing how the majority Liberal government will put Ontario back on track including balancing the books and creating jobs.

“I take Ms. Wynne at her word,” McNaughton stated. “She has made a promise to eliminate the deficit in three years and I will work as an opposition member to help her keep that promise.”

McNaughton has community offices in Strathroy, Wallaceburg, Glencoe and Forest and can be reached online at www.MonteMcNaughtonMPP.ca.
