A man and woman have pleaded guilty to the first degree murder of Sarnia school teacher, Noelle Paquette.
Michael MacGregor and Tanya Bogdanovich entered the surprising pleas at a hearing today in St. Thomas, where pre-trial motions had been taking place since August.
The London Free Press is reporting that MacGregor and Bogdanovich were seeking a “random victim” to kidnap, rape and kill.
Paquette’s body was found in a wooded area outside of Sarnia on January 2, 2013, after she was last spotted leaving a New Year’s Eve party in downtown Sarnia.
A two-day hearing is scheduled to take place in February, when a more detailed account is expected to be heard in the courtroom, reports say.
The trial had been expected to take place later in 2016.
First-degree murder convictions result in mandatory life sentences, with no chance of parole for 25 years.
