Rollover crash leads to impaired driving charges

The Chatham-Kent OPP have charged a Chatham woman following a rollover crash on the 401.

Police officials said on April 2, just after 6 a.m., officers responded to a rollover collision involving a Ford SUV on Highway 401 eastbound Queens Line.

Officers spoke with the female driver of the SUV, who stated that another party had been driving the vehicle.

Upon further investigation, it was discovered that the information provided by the driver was false.

During subsequent OPP traffic investigation, it was determined that she had been consuming alcoholic beverages.

As a result, the driver, 20-year-old Chatham woman has been charged with the following:

– Obstruct Peace Officer, under the Criminal Code of Canada

– Driving While Ability Impaired, under the Criminal Code of Canada

The driver was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver is scheduled to appear in a Chatham court on April 29, 2016, to answer to the charges.
