Chatham-Kent Hospice: How can you be part of the solution?

Chatham-Kent Hospice has been providing care for local families at the end of life for eight years this month.

In that time, they’ve cared for over 1,340 families from across the municipality.

Additionally, they’ve provided grief and bereavement support to over 1,400 individuals.

All of their services are offered at no cost to the family or individual.

In terms of funding, Chatham-Kent Hospice receives partial government funding for direct medical costs only.

They rely on donations from the community to make up the balance.

For this year, that means they must raise an average of $157,000 each month to cover their operating costs.

Dana Haggith caught up with Jodi Maroney, executive director for the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation for an interview. Listen, below:

Hospice officials say they receive many donations made in memory of a loved one, as well as general donations to support their ongoing needs.

They have over 300 people who are part of their Hospice Heroes Monthly Giving Program.

Donors can choose the amount that fits their budget and set up a monthly gift.

It’s easy and convenient.

For a limited time, the Chatham-Kent Hospice are offering a Monthly Match Incentive of up to $25,000 thanks to Laprise Farms Ltd., Apollo Property Management & Development, Ridge Landfill, Maple Mutual Insurance, and Blenheim Chevrolet.

When people or donors join the Monthly Giving Program or increase their monthly amount if they are already a member, their gift or increase will be matched for 12 months.

This offer will be available until they reach the $25,000 matching goal.
