On Saturday, February 8, 2014, the Foundation of Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA) hosted its 3rd Annual Charity Curling Classic at the Sydenham Community Curling Club in Wallaceburg. Sixteen teams of four participated in this event and helped raise $6,163, through sponsorship, pledges, a 50/50 Draw and a silent auction, to support the refurbishing of CKHA’s ‘Quiet Room’ at the Sydenham Campus.

The Foundation of CKHA’s 3rd Annual Charity Curling Classic featured two, six-end, games of curling, lunch, dinner and great prizes. All participants were asked to raise a minimum of $100 in pledges for this event in support of the refurbishing of CKHA’s ‘Quiet Room’ at the Sydenham Campus.

The event’s ‘Top Fundraiser’, and the winner of a 16GB Apple iPad Mini, was Andy Cornell with $550 raised through pledges. Honourable mention goes out to the ‘Top Fundraising Team’ consisting of Maureen Coleman, Vivian DeWitt, Kyla Hayward and Joan Whitson.

Taking home the title of the event’s points leader and winning team was Healthy Contractors featuring Corinne Pollard, Jim Pollard, Tom Pollard and Jennifer Smith.

“Thanks to the hard work of our volunteers and the generosity of our sponsors and participants, the 3rd Annual Charity Curling Classic was once again a great success,” says Michele Grzebien-Huckson, Executive Director, Foundation of CKHA. “This event helped us raise much-needed funds to support CKHA’s Sydenham Campus and provided us with the opportunity to connect with our supporters in Wallaceburg and surrounding areas. All in all, it was a great day and we are looking forward to hosting the 4th Annual Charity Curling Classic in 2015.”
