The Wallaceburg community has stepped up to help out their neighbours.

A food drive this morning, spearheaded by Community Living Wallaceburg, took place across Wallaceburg.

“The Salvation Army representatives told us we gathered a months worth of food today,” said Ron Laroche, communications coordinator for Community Living Wallaceburg. “We got a great response from the community.”

Laroche said about 70 volunteers came out to help out.

“We split up into 10 different canvass areas across town,” he said. “I think there is an opportunity to grow the event and it highlights the need in the community.”

Laroche said if anyone still have items to donate, they can drop them off at the Salvation Army location in Wallaceburg.

The Wallaceburg location is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday to Friday.

Call the Wallaceburg office for more details at 519-627-8257.
