A local business owner, and long time supporter of healthcare in Wallaceburg, has came through once again.

Dick Bulsink, owner of Stekelbos Watch & Clock Repairs, handed over a cheque for $1,000 to go towards the fundraising efforts of the Chatham-Kent Family Health Team for the Wallaceburg Community Medical Centre expansion.

Bulsink has been gathering $1 from every watch battery they have installed at their business since May. Now in just a few short months, they raised the $1,000 they committed to donating.

“We change a lot of watch batteries here,” he said.

Bulsink added good, quality healthcare is essential for the community.

“The town needs to have doctors of course,” he said. “There was a time when there was a doctor shortage here. If you wanted to make an appointment, it would be months before you would see a doctor. That fortunately has turned around.”

Laura Johnson, executive director for the Chatham-Kent Family Health Team, said they have raised $150,000 of the $200,000 goal.
