At their first meeting of the New Year the Optimist Club of Sombra Township made a special presentation to the Optimist Pediatric Pillowcase Program which is being offered at Bluewater Health in Sarnia.
The program, started by the Lambton Central – Petrolia Optimist Club, provides a special handmade pillowcase that is designed to be “bright and cheery” to each child, up to the age of 13, admitted to the hospital.
The hope is the pillowcase will comfort the child and make the hospital stay feel a little like being at home. At the end of their stay the child also is able to take the pillowcase home.
This marks the third year of the program.
In the first two years over 700 pillowcases were donated to children who stayed at Bluewater Health in Sarnia.
