After the deaths of a number of community members, Walpole Island First Nation has cancelled all council meetings this week.
“Our condolences, thoughts, prayers, and support go out to all of the friends and families affected by the passing of our members,” Walpole Island officials posted on social media.
“They will be greatly missed and our thoughts and hearts are with you in this difficult time.”
Walpole officials have supports and services available through the Walpole Island Help Team – a community-based trauma response team, who are responsible for assisting/supporting community members who have experienced a tragic event, such as: tragic house fire, unexpected death, suicide, homicide, fatal auto accidents, aftermaths of community disaster.
