Auxiliary Unit recognized by CKPS

This week, as we celebrate National Volunteer Appreciation Week, the Chatham-Kent Police Service would like to acknowledge our Auxiliary Unit.

The Auxiliary Unit is comprised of 22 citizens from our community who play an integral role of our Police Service in a volunteer capacity. Auxiliary members perform important duties such as ride-alongs, traffic control during parades/runs, assist with special community events and crime prevention programs, along with acting as victims/suspects during police training scenarios. Three members of the Auxiliary Unit are also cross-trained to assist with marine patrol which allows greater flexibility in deployment and staffing for our Marine Unit.

‘Without the assistance and commitment of our Auxiliary Unit, the Police Service and event organizers would need to pay additional costs for security and traffic control for numerous events throughout our community. Without these volunteers, many events would not be possible,” says Chief Dennis Poole. “On behalf of the Chatham-Kent Police Service, I would like to personally thank all the dedicated men and women of our Auxiliary Unit who volunteer numerous hours in an effort to keep Chatham-Kent one of the safest communities in Ontario.”
