Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA) with campuses in Chatham and Wallaceburg proudly celebrates National Volunteer Week.

During the week, CKHA volunteers enjoyed an appreciation luncheon at the Aristo Room. It was a time for networking with their peers with many door prizes donated by hospital staff and physicians.

“Our organization is stronger because of our volunteers. They are the heartbeat of our hospital. Not only do they offer support and comfort to our patients and families, they also contribute their skills and knowledge which makes our organization stronger. CKHA thanks all our volunteers for their efforts, commitment and compassion in their community hospital,” said Colin Patey, President & Chief Executive Officer.

Over 100 volunteers at the luncheon were thanked for their service by Colin Patey, President & CEO. As well, the volunteers viewed a presentation on patient safety by Nancy Homewood, Manager of Quality/Risk & Patient Safety.

“CKHA benefits from the contributions of over 400 volunteers. From the boardroom to the bedside, these talented and kind individuals exemplify the values of hospital trust, teamwork, respect, accountability, compassion and knowledge,” said Chene Faulkner, CKHA`s Volunteer Resource Specialist. “CKHA In-Service volunteers provided over 26,000 hours of service in the past fiscal year. Our volunteers are exceptional and extraordinary people!” she added.

Volunteer opportunities at CKHA currently exist in the Ambulatory Care, Emergency Department, Information Desk at both sites, Surgery Department, Boutique Grand & Serendipity Gift Shops (Chatham and Wallaceburg campuses), respectively and as Patient Advisors.
