Despite some cold temperatures, rain, snow and even hail, some students and volunteers in Dresden conducted an “Earth Day” clean-up.
“Thanks to Mrs. Kingsbury’s Grade 7-8 class (at Dresden Area Central School) for braving the weather today,” said Lynda Weese member of the Dresden Horticultural Society. “They covered the east side of North Street from Main Street to the school and Wellington Street to the highway.”
Weese said the clean-up is continuing all week.
She said on Friday students from Lambton-Kent Composite School are cleaning up St. George to the north end sign and the parkland.
“It looks as if Thursday and Friday are going to be somewhat warmer,” Weese said.
Weese said some areas in town are still in need of clean-up:
– The Fairgrounds parking lot
– Around the Tim Horton’s lot
– The southern approach to town from DACS and the North Street entrance by the tracks
– Uncle Tom’s Road
– Park Street
Earth Week was underway at North Kent Mutual Insurance in Dresden today as well.
Staff from both locations, braved the snowflakes to tidy around their buildings.
